Abbreviations: Synthesis(Syn), Decomposition(Decomp), Single Replacement/Displacement(SR), Double Displacement/Replacement(DD), Oxidation-Reduction(Redox)

1.  A piece of lithium metal is dropped into a container of nitrogen gas. (Syn)

2.  Dilute hydrochloric acid is added to a solution of potassium sulfite. (DD)

3.  Solid sodium oxide is added to water. (Syn)

4.  A solution of sodium sulfide is added to a solution of zinc nitrate. (DD)

5.  A solution of ammonia is added to a dilute solution of acetic acid. (Ammonium ion + product of acetic acid)

6.  A piece of iron is added to a solution of iron(III) sulfate. (Redox)

7.  Ethene (ethylene) gas is bubbled through a solution of bromine. (Syn)

8.  Chlorine gas is bubbled into a solution of potassium iodide. (Redox)
